Reflection
Reflecting on my work, I can say that my favorite project this year was the first classical figure. The project that allowed me to showcase my growth as a 2D artist was Contour Figures with Watercolor. In terms of learning, I have learned how to create colors mixing paints, use different layers to create a painting. which has helped me to enhance my skills and understanding of different techniques. In the future, I would like to learn perspective better so i can draw more complex compositions. As an artist, I have grown overall in different areas such as my use of color, composition, and character design. I have improved my technique, craftsmanship, subject, content, composition, drawing, design, proportion, color choices and mixing. I feel more confident in my abilities and look forward to exploring new areas of art.
Memento Mori
My image depicts a skeleton on a black background holding a heart that is is breaking apart and falling to the bottom of the piece. using contrast, texture, space, value, and emphasis as the key elements and principles. I chose chalk pastel and charcoal to create a specific texture and effect. In terms of techniques, I used layering, blending, and dusting to enhance the overall image. My style or aesthetic choices were dark, bold, and dramatic which helped me to create a spooky and mysterious mood or convey meaning in the fading heart being held.
Tree of Life
My image depicts a tree with hanging hearts in its branches. On the left side, a dark moody scene show wounded and old livestock. On the other side, it shows a mother rabbit with her baby and a bright sun in the sky, using color, contrast, and balance, and as the key elements and principles. I chose chalk pastels to create a hand drawn texture and effect. In terms of techniques, I used lots of small strokes and shading to enhance the overall image. My style or aesthetic choices were surrealism and fantasy which helped me to create a dynamic mood and convey meaning in the difference between life and death.
